Collecting stuff
I’ve been collecting comics and books forever, though I’m stuck in a bit of a time-warp. Most of my favourite stuff dates back to things like First Comics’ Elric of Melniboné, old 70’s/80’s Conan, Judge Dredd (80’s), Scavengers (Quality Comics), 2000AD, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (Miyazaki), and most definitely Classic Star Wars by Al Williamson / Archie Goodwin. There’s so many others to name and I’ll definitely put up a couple different Blog posts about them – mainly to spark a discussion and get your feedback.
Though I should mention the non-English titles I’m really into (and be sure to check out my links in the footer of this blog). There’s some incredible talent in Europe. Am always stocking up on Italian fumetti like Nathan Never, Martin Mystère and Dampyr whenever I’m over there. The same goes for France, especially near the ‘antiquarian quarter’ of Nîmes where the comic book shops are concentrated.
There’s a whole world of titles there that never see the light of day here in Australia because there’s simply no English translation, and it’s a real shame. But that’s not a good enough excuse, considering Aussies should be learning more languages anyway.
Got any particular favourites from these? Let me know on Google+, or leave a comment here.
